1️⃣ In the United States
* Centers such as the Children’s Brain Tumor Tissue Consortium (CBTTC) and the bank led by Dr. Michelle Monje at Stanford are pillars of global research.
* Thousands of DIPG tissue samples are stored here, along with genetic and clinical data donated by families who transformed their pain into hope.
* These banks have been key to identifying genetic mutations, better understanding the tumor, and developing innovative therapies such as targeted immunotherapy.
2️⃣ In Australia
* The Charlie Teo Foundation Brain Tumour Bank has driven significant advances through tissue donations.
* Research led by Prof. Matt Dun has given rise to clinical trials now being conducted in more than 20 hospitals around the world.
3️⃣ In Spain
In Spain, not all hospitals have a tissue bank, but it is possible to arrange donations from another region. It is recommended to send samples to hospitals with active DIPG research lines, such as Sant Joan de Déu (Barcelona), CUN (Navarra) and Niño Jesús (Madrid).
Any public hospital accepts donations, and there are contacts with tissue banks to facilitate the process for families. Families can call and ask without any issue.
