🎗️ A Historic Milestone in the Fight Against DIPG: Chile Will Host Its First Symposium With International Specialists
On August 25th, 2026, the Fundación Santino Pizarro Carrizo is organizing for the first time in Chile a symposium entirely dedicated to DIPG. Leading international specialists and organizations will gather at the UDLA Auditorium in Viña del Mar to share knowledge and bring forward the latest advances on this devastating childhood cancer.
A Milestone Chile Has Been Waiting For
For the first time in the country’s history, DIPG will have its own academic, scientific and human gathering space in Chile.
The Fundación Santino Pizarro Carrizo announces the First DIPG Symposium in Chile, an event born from the urgency of making visible a disease that affects children and currently has no available treatment in our country, and from the conviction that collaboration between specialists, organizations and families can accelerate the advances that are so desperately needed.
What Is DIPG and Why Is It Urgent to Talk About It?
DIPG (diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma) is one of the most aggressive pediatric brain tumors that exists. In Chile there are no treatment protocols, no access to clinical trials, and families who receive this diagnosis must search for options abroad, mainly in Spain and the United States, racing against time and often without the resources to do so.
Making DIPG visible to the Chilean scientific and medical community is not just a symbolic act. It is a concrete step toward building a network of knowledge, research and support that today does not exist in the country.
A High-Level Gathering
This symposium will bring together leading international specialists and organizations to share the most recent advances surrounding DIPG: from the latest developments in research and clinical trials, to the experiences of organizations that walk alongside families on this journey.
Confirmed speakers include:
👨⚕️ Dr. Andrés Morales La Madrid, MD MHM – Medical Director at SJD Pediatric Cancer Center, Barcelona
👨⚕️ Dr. Fernando Panzino, MD, MSc – Pediatric Consultant and Director of Development for Latin America
👩💼 Nadia Budó – Commercial and Institutional Relations Manager
It is a space designed for doctors, researchers, educators, students and everyone who wants to learn more about this disease and be part of the change.
